I thoroughly enjoy talking to children in years 4 to 7 about writing – since my first novel was published I’ve visited many schools in Essex, London, Kent, Yorkshire, Herts and Lincolnshire, and have appeared at the Haringey Children’s Book Festival and Fife Libraries Children’s Book Festival in St Andrews. My events include a chat about reading and writing, a reading from one of my novels, a fun interactive game (which the children LOVE!) and a Q&A session. I have also run creative writing workshops in which I talk about my own writing techniques, how to begin a story, characterisation, and use of language and dialogue to influence the mood of a scene.
Comments from teachers about my events
‘The children really enjoyed your visit … it was inspirational.’ – Una Henderson, Head of Literacy, Hunters Hall School.
‘Thanks for a great talk!’ - Tara Webb, Head of Literacy, Ravenscroft School.
Comments from librarians
‘Thank you … one of the best events we’ve ever had.’ – Cathy Garnsworthy, Children’s Librarian, Hornsey Library.

My event fees are substantially lower than those recommended by The Society of Authors, and will depend on whether schools want me for an hour, half a day or a full day! I will also charge expenses for travel and any necessary overnight accommodation.
