End of the holidays! (August 30, 2010)

Hooray! Er … what a shame. Whaddya mean, it sounds like I can’t wait for my kids to go back to school? Not at all. I have NOT been praying for 8.55 am on Thursday 2 September.

Having said that, if you google ‘kids going back to school’, you don’t get shops selling uniform or adverts for stationery suppliers. You get parent forums with shouts of ‘Yeeeeeeessss!’ and ‘Thank God for that!’  But not from me.

I’m looking forward to September because my school visits start again. I can’t wait to tell more children (and teachers) about Edwin, talk about reading and writing and play my parallel worlds game. Schools I’ve got lined up include Theydon Bois Primary, Earls Hall Primary, Southend, Holland Park Primary, Clacton, St Mary’s RC Primary, Tilbury, Langham Primary, Colchester, Holly Trees Primary, Brentwood and Lansdowne Primary, Thurrock. I’ve also got a visit to the fantastic Millennium Library in Norwich, and two days at Fife Libraries Family Book Carnival in St Andrew’s, Scotland.

AND I’ve got to do some changes to Edwin II, which (very excitedly), is due out next Summer. By the time half-term comes around, I’ll need a rest. But will I get one? I don’t think so.
