How sad am I? (August 2, 2010)

I’ve got a terrible habit of trawling through the web to see if anything more has been said about Edwin Spencer Mission Improbable. It’s got so bad that I can spot straight away if there’s any sites mentioning Edwin that haven’t before. If Edwin were a real person, I’m sure the police would arrest me for stalking!  But when you get a book published, it kind of takes over your life …

Anyway, on an exciting note, I’m going to a book club meeting on Wednesday – the last book they’ve read is mine, and they’re going to talk about what they thought of it … in front of me. I don’t know whether to look forward to it or absolutely dread it. And, worst of all, it’s not a children’s book club, it’s for grown-ups. So even if they don’t like it, they probably won’t try to hite it!

Maybe I should go in disguise – dress up in a beard and moustache and pretend I’m a new member … if they like Edwin, I’ll whip the disguise off and say ‘surprise!’. But if they don’t like it, I’ll sit mumbling (in a very deep voice), “So where is this author, then? Why hasn’t she shown up? How very rude …”
